Republicans believe in freedom, responsibility, and fairness. We think it’s okay to disagree and to talk and try to persuade each other through debate and “civil discourse”. After all, this is how we teach others and how we learn as well. No one should forcefully demand or pressure someone else into “what to think” and nor should they stifle or shut down discussion in the face of interesting or challenging questions.
Over the past few years, Republicans have become increasingly concerned that our “opponents” in the Democrat Party have formed a hive-mind of sorts, where increasingly radical and oppressive policies are being enforced from the “top-down” into the front-lines of the party and out to the nation overall, without regard to minority rights or equal rule of law.
As Republicans, we tend agree on many things (on most things even), but we disagree sometimes as well. This is okay. It’s necessary and good even in the search for better ways for a free people to govern themselves. We do not enforce any orthodoxy or dogma from the top-down and welcome many former Democrat or Libertarian or Independent citizens with an open mind who values these founding principles of freedom for individuals and respect for each other.
Ultimately, while there are of course many issues that could divide us, it is incumbent upon everyone to grasp the bigger picture and face courageously, some of the totalitarian challenges confronting us today.
The Republican Party cares about freedom.
The Republican Party cares about enforcing the rule of law while preserving equality under the law.
The Republican Party believes America is a “free country” and if we cannot persuade through civil discourse, then we vote in honest elections and let the best ideas win.
